Fluid Bead Manual (Acrobat Format)

The FLUIDBEAD FILTER is produced in quality stainless steel and contains 4.25 cubic feet of media for a total of 2300 sq. ft. of surface area. The floating bead portion of the filter performs as other bead filters, providing biochemical filtration. However, the fluidized bed portion of the filter in the base performs biofiltration. Because there is no trapping of solids in the fluidized bed, clogging and channeling do not occur. This allows maximum utilization of the surface area for complete nitrification. As long as there is flow through the filter, biofiltration is occurring. This is in contrast to up-flow bead filters and down-flow sand filters that lose biosurface area as they trap solids during the normal operation. The fluidbead filter requires 30 min. gallons/min to properly fluidize the sinking beads in the base of the filter, but will accept flows up to 80 gallons/min. Backwash is performed by reversing flow to "Fluidize" the upper portion of floating beads. This releases the trapped debris which then exits through the laterals in the middle of the filter between the two layers of beads. This is a pressurized hydraulic backwash that allows a quick complete flushing of the floating beads with no dirty discharge back to the pond. We recommend a sediment tank in front of the filter for the most efficient operation.

Bead Filter

HydraBead Manual (Acrobat Format)

The HYDRABEAD FILTER utilizes floating bead filtration technology.  The floating bead filters have been time proven to be very effective for biochemical filtration.  Our filters perform as the other bead filters on the market but will tolerate higher pressures and higher flows (up to 80 gallons/min).  The backwash of the hydrabead filter is a pressurized hydraulic wash that more completely flushes the beads clean.  The fact that it is a down-flow backwash makes it more efficient than an up-flow backwash since it has gravity on its side.  Our filters are more user friendly since the internals of the filter are easily accessible if there are neglect problems. The input laterals are also easily accessible for occasional service.

The Hydrabead Filter comes in three sizes:

#24 Hydrabead Filter contains 1.25 cubic feet of beads and will handle a pond up to 1500 gallons.
Price: $1403.50 (CDN)

#36 Hydrabead Filter contains 1.5 cubic feet of beads and will handle a pond up to 3000 gallons.
Price: $1555.00

#48 Hydrabead Filter contains 2 cubic feet of beads and will handle a pond up to 4500 gallons.

Pinnacle Manual (Acrobat Format)

Congratulations, you are looking at the most technologically advanced pond filter on the market.  The PINNACLE FILTERS concept was conceived due to the need for a filter that would allow the owner of a large pond to be able to filter it without the use of high energy consumption pumps.  The design of the Pinnacle Filter is such that you can use 2 energy saving pumps instead of 1 large high energy pump.  For instance, some ¼ hp pumps only use 2.5 amps @ 115 volts.  This means that you can filter a 20,000-25,000 gallon pond and use only 5 amps.  No other filter made can make these claims.

You can rest assured that your Pinnacle Filter was built with pride to give you many years of dependable service.  Made of durable fiberglass, your filter boasts a 10 year non-prorated warranty and The optimum flow side mount valve, rated at a 5.5 psi drop @ 95 gpm, has one of the lowest head pressure ratings on the market.  The1hp Hydra Thrust Blower are now standard equipment on all Fluid Art Filters.

In most ponds the filter needs 4-6 weeks to mature and start performing the way it was intended.  After the maturation process the Pinnacle Filter can handle fish loads of 450 lbs.  Fed at 1% body weight. You demand the best for your money so insist on the best from your dealer.

New for 2003!!
Introducing the Water Miser Drain.  The Water Miser Drain comes standard on the Pinnacle Filter making a near perfect filter even better.  The Water Miser drain allows an Ultra low volume backwash if water is expensive, in short supply, or you have a low volume heavily stocked pond.

Pond Tech Inc. introduces the Fluid Art technologies ECONO-BEAD FILTERS.  If you’re just getting into the hobby, changing the style of filtration, or adding more filtration to your pond and on a budget, take a look at the Econo-Bead.  There are significant dollars to be saved!  The Econo-Bead Filter is fully upgradeable with the basic design of the Hydrabead filter, but without all the bells and whistles.  They come standard with a 2 inch slide valve and the new Water Miser Sludge drain.  The 2 inch valve allows high flows with little head pressure and the Water Miser Sludge Drain allows for an effective low volume drainage break up of the bead pack.  The tank of the Econ-Bead filter is easily opened allowing unparalleled access to the internals and the bead pack.  Fluid Art Technologies highly recommends the use of a blower on a bead filter and the advantages that a multiport valve offers.  However, they are not requirements for the successful operation of a bead filter.  If the homeowner is willing to take a little more time with the maintenance of the filter there are significant dollars to be saved.  If at a later date, you decide that you want the convenience of a blower and a multiport valve the Econo-Bead Filter is easily upgraded to them.

All filters need to be serviced occasionally and you'll be happy you chose the Econo-Bead when that time comes.  The Econo-Bead tank opens completely so access to the internals is a breeze.  Utilizing beads that are smaller than some other bead filters use (500-550 sq. ft. per cu. ft.)  allows us to have a greater surface area per cubic foot.  This makes for an exceptionally efficient filter with superior polishing ability.  Made of injection molded ABS, ABS is known as one of the strongest compositions used in tank manufacture.  The Econo-Bead Filter is available in three sizes to meet your pond requirements:

Econo-Bead 75
.75 Cubic Feet of Media
For Ponds up to 1000 Gallons

Turbo Vortex Manual (Acrobat Format)

The TURBO VORTEX SOLIDS SEPARATOR was brought about after listening to hobbyist's many remarks about wanting something to help remove solids prior to the biofilter. With the current advancement in filtration moving towards pressurized systems, there was needed something to replace the old style sediment tank used on gravity feed systems. Enter the Turbo Vortex, a solids separator with only a 12" footprint. The Turbo was designed to work with these types of systems including sand, sand type, conventional, bead filters including the Fluidbead and Hydrabead units.

The Turbo Vortex works in this manner:

Water is pulled from the pond through the unit into the pump and on to the filter. Solids accumulate in aerobic environment by means of 1. Lower baffle plate 2. Gravity 3. Centrifugal motion 4. Baffle balls, waiting to be back washed out. By simply moving a backwash valve handle the trapped debris is sent out to waste. Your strainer basket is kept clean, no more daily cleaning. While each pond is different, most pond keepers report back washing on a weekly basis. How does this help your filter? By separating the larger solids and keeping them out of the filter, it allows the filter to do what you really want it to do and that is handle solubles. This results in a more efficient filter that can extend the time between back washings. It also produces better water quality, providing a healthier environment for the fish. Because of the way the debris is held in an aerobic environment, conditions conducive to the growth of unfriendly bacteria are eliminated.
